Ajinkya Naik panel sweeps MCA election

The Ajinkya Naik panel has swept the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) elections, with Naik himself re-elected as president. He was elected unopposed for the second consecutive term, as members of his panel secured 12 of the 16 positions.

"It's a victory for our Maidan clubs, secretaries, and every cricketer – men and women. This win belongs to the entire Mumbai Cricket family," Naik said after the results were declared on Wednesday evening. He was backed by some of the most influential figures in Mumbai cricket, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Sharad Pawar, a former head of the MCA, the BCCI, and the ICC.

"With the powerful support of Hon'ble Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ji and Sharad Pawar ji, this success became possible," Naik said, also thanking Ashish Shelar, a minister in the Fadnavis government. His panel was called the Pawar-Shelar group.

Among others elected were Unmesh Khanvilkar, who was chosen as secretary, while Jitendra Awhad became vice-president. Khanvilkar defeated Shahalam Shaikh, and Awhad beat Navin Shetty. Nilesh Bhosle overcame Gaurav Payyade to become the joint secretary, and Arman Mallick emerged victorious over Surendra Shewale to take charge as treasurer.

Sandeep Vichare, Suraj Samat, Vighnesh Kadam, Milind Narvekar, Bhushan Patil, Nadim Memon, Vikas Repale, Pramod Yadav, and Neil Savant have been elected as members of the Apex Council of the association.
