Injury scare for Mark Wood in Ashes build-up

Mark Wood is set to undergo a precautionary scan after suffering from hamstring stiffness during a warm-up game against England Lions at Lilac Hill Park in Perth, according to the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Wood bowled eight overs in the match, finishing with figures of 8-1-29-0 before leaving the field. The scan is scheduled for Friday, with expectations that he will resume bowling within two days.

This follows a challenging 2025 for Wood, who underwent knee surgery after an injury during the Champions Trophy in February. The injury caused him to miss the five-match Test series against India earlier in the English summer.

The first Ashes Test begins in Perth on November 21.
