WBBL: Silver-Holmes, Lee shine as Hurricanes breeze past Sixers

Hobart Hurricanes secured just their third win in 21 WBBL meetings against the Sydney Sixers, cruising to victory at North Sydney Oval with a dominant all-round performance.

The win was built on contributions from 22-year-old Hayley Silver-Holmes and veteran South African keeper-batter Lizelle Lee. Silver-Holmes claimed 3 for 18, taking all three wickets in a single over that triggered a Sixers collapse from 92 for 2 to 93 for 5.

After Sophia Dunkley fell early, Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy steadied the innings with a 44-run partnership. Ash Gardner struggled before falling to Silver-Holmes for 9 off 13 balls. The next delivery saw Amelia Kerr dismissed by an off-cutter, and three balls later Healy was bowled for 37. Erin Burns fell in the following over, leaving the Sixers in trouble.

Maitlan Brown's 29 helped the Sixers reach 152, with Mady Villiers contributing 19.

The Hurricanes responded with their highest opening partnership in WBBL history. Lee and Danni Wyatt-Hodge put on 95 in 9.1 overs, with Wyatt-Hodge smashing six fours and two sixes in her 26-ball 45. Lee fell for 55 off 33 balls, but the Hurricanes completed the chase with 19 balls to spare.
