BCCI confirms IPL Auction on December 16 in Abu Dhabi
The upcoming IPL Auction ahead of the 2026 season will be held on December 16, the BCCI confirmed on Saturday. The mini auction will be held overseas in the middle of December in the gulf region. The BCCI confirmed that the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi has been chosen as the venue for the auction.
On a day when all ten teams submitted their list of retained players, it was also confirmed that the teams will have a combined purse of INR 237.55 Cr to spend in the auction. Following the retention, a maximum of 77 slots can now be filled in the auction with 31 of them belonging to overseas players.

Kolkata Knight Riders, who released high-profile players like Andre Russell and Venkatesh Iyer, will enter the auction with the biggest purse (INR 64.30 Cr), followed by Chennai Super Kings (INR 43.40 Cr). Five-time champions Mumbai Indians, who have 20 players in their roster now, will enter the auction with the lowest purse (INR 2.75 Cr).
