Saif Hassan named Bangladesh T20I vice captain

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has included young Saif Hassan in the leadership group as he was picked as T20I vice-captain.

BCB confirmed a series of leadership appointments across the national men's teams, naming Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Saif Hassan as vice-captains in Test, ODI and T20I cricket respectively.

"Saif Hassan's elevation as vice-captain of the T20 team comes on the back of consistent and impressive performances in the shortest format for Bangladesh. Litton Kumer Das has been entrusted with leading the side until the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2026," BCB said in a statement.

BCB added Mehidy has been appointed vice-captain of the Bangladesh Test team where he will serve as deputy to Najmul Hossain Shanto. Shanto will continue as captain until the end of the current ICC Test Championship cycle.

Meanwhile, in the ODI format, Shanto will assume the role of vice-captain under Miraz's leadership. Miraz was confirmed as the ODI skipper for a one-year term in June this year.

BCB announces reallocation of committee responsibilities

Abdur Razzak will now replace Khaled Mashud as chairman of High Performance while Mashud will move to the position of chairman of grounds as he succeeds BCB President Aminul Islam who has headed the committee since the recent Board election.

BCB to hold gender sensitivity training amid harassment probe

BCB is set to conduct a gender-sensitivity training session on Wednesday at the National Cricket Academy building in Sher e Bangla National Stadium.

The training comes against the backdrop of claims made by former national women's team captain Jahanara Alam, who recently accused current and former BCB officials of "inappropriate physical contact" and mental abuse during the 2022 Women's World Cup.

In response, the BCB has formed a five member panel – led by retired Justice Tariq ul Hakim, with BCB Director Rubaba Dowla, Former Chair of the Department of Law at the University of Dhaka and current Member of the Law Commission Professor Dr Naima Huq, Barrister Muhammed Mustafizur Rahman Khan and lawyer Sarwat Siraj Shukla as members – to investigate the claims.

The one hour programme – scheduled from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM – is aimed at the heads of BCB's various departments. All department in-charges have been asked to attend. Earlier in the day, a similar session will be held for all the women cricketers in the board's ranks.
