Bangladesh dominate again to take commanding 367-run lead

Ireland's batters offered much-improved resistance on the third day, but it proved insufficient as Bangladesh claimed a 211-run first innings lead before extending it to 367 runs in the second Test at Dhaka.

Ireland resumed the day on 98/4, still 378 behind Bangladesh's total. Lorcan Tucker and Stephen Doheny batted with poise and ensured no further damage in the first hour. Play was briefly halted due to an earthquake just after drinks, but resumed minutes later.

Ireland suffered a double blow as Taijul Islam struck twice in the 59th over. He first bowled Doheny for 46, ending an 81-run stand, before dismissing Andy McBrine two balls later. Tucker battled on and brought up fifty before Lunch with Ireland still 265 runs behind.

Ireland continued their resistance in the second session as Bangladesh probed hard. Jordan Neill's dismissal for 49 in the 83rd over ended a 74-run stand and gave Bangladesh the opening they needed, bundling Ireland out in the 89th over.

Bangladesh opted not to enforce the follow-on despite a 211-run lead. Their openers scored quickly in the seven overs before Tea. Though they couldn't sustain the intensity, both brought up fifties in successive overs. Ireland broke through when Gavin Hoey trapped Mahmudul Hasan Joy LBW in the 32nd over. Bangladesh feasted on tired Irish bowlers in the final two overs, ending the day 367 runs ahead.

Brief Scores:
Bangladesh 476 & 156/1 (Shadman Islam 68*, Mahmudul Hasan Joy 60; Gavin Hoey 1-56)
Ireland 265 all out (Lorcan Tucker 75, Jordan Neill 49; Taijul Islam 4-76)
Bangladesh lead by 367 runs
