Wilson fires Sydney Thunder to second consecutive win

Tahlia Wilson's 51-ball 79 powered Sydney Thunder to their second consecutive win in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2025, consigning Brisbane Heat to a fourth straight defeat that now leaves their qualification hopes in serious jeopardy.

Batting first, Wilson anchored the innings superbly, stitching together stands of 55, 53 and 65 for the first three wickets before falling to Nadine de Klerk in the 17th over. Thunder briefly wobbled when Laura Harris departed the very next ball, but Phoebe Knight counterattacked with a blistering 41 off 24 balls, hitting seven fours to lift the innings at the death. Thunder finished with an above-par 200/6, with Wilson's knock featuring eight fours and two sixes.

In response, Heat were rocked early, losing both openers inside the first four overs. The wickets continued to tumble until de Klerk, this time with the bat, steadied the chase with a 49-run stand alongside Mikayla Wrigley for the sixth wicket. Annie O'Neil and Nicola Hancock added useful late runs, but Heat were left chasing the game after Em Arlott's three-wicket burst dismantled the top and middle order, ultimately leaving the target well out of reach.

Brief Scores: Sydney Thunder 200/6 (Wilson 79, de Klerk 2-34) beat Brisbane Heat 159 (de Klerk 43, Arlott 3-35) by 41 runs
