BCB omits eight cricketers from BPL auction list
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has omitted at least eight cricketers from the final draft list for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) auction. These players were excluded after being flagged by the BCB integrity unit due to their activities in the previous edition of the BPL, which are linked to match-fixing concerns.
Earlier, BPL governing council member and BCB vice-president Shakhawat Hossain stated that tainted cricketers would not be included in the final players draft to prevent fixing controversies in the upcoming tournament.
According to the players draft list sent to franchises on Sunday, the following Bangladesh cricketers are missing from the final list:
- Anamul Haque Bijoy
- Mosaddek Hossain
- Shofiul Islam
- Alauddin Babu
- Sunzamul Islam
- Mizanur Rahman
- Nihaduzzaman
- Munir Hasan Khan
A BCB official confirmed, "They are omitted from the list as per the report of the integrity unit as they were found in red flag zone, and we cannot tell anything further in this regard."
This action follows a 900-page report from a three-member independent inquiry committee formed after widespread fixing allegations in the previous BPL season. The report identified 18–19 individuals, including 8–10 players, suspected of varying degrees of involvement in match-fixing during the last edition.
