Green, Venkatesh, Smith among 1355 players in IPL auction register; No Maxwell

Over a thousand players have registered for the Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction. Notable Indian aspirants include Mayank Agarwal, KS Bharat, Rahul Chahar, Ravi Bishnoi, Akash Deep, Deepak Hooda, Venkatesh Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Mavi, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya, Kuldeep Sen, Prithvi Shaw, Rahul Tripathi, Sandeep Warrier and Umesh Yadav. The one-day mini-auction will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16.

The auction register lists 1,355 players. Leading international names from England, Australia and South Africa feature prominently. Cameron Green, Matthew Short and Steve Smith headline the Australian players hoping to find buyers. Josh Inglis, whose availability is uncertain due to his wedding, has also registered. The list includes players like Jamie Smith and Jonny Bairstow of England, Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand, and Wanindu Hasaranga and Matheesha Pathirana of Sri Lanka. Notably, Glenn Maxwell, released by Punjab Kings after IPL 2025, is not in the list.

Only two Indians, Ravi Bishnoi and Venkatesh Iyer, have the maximum base price of INR 2 crore. There are 43 overseas players in the INR 2 crore bracket, including Cameron Green, Steve Smith, Jamie Smith, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen Ul Haq, Sean Abbott, Aston Agar, Cooper Connolly, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Josh Inglis, Mustafizur Rahman, Gus Atkinson, Tom Banton, Tom Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Daniel Lawrence, Liam Livingstone, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Michael Bracewell, Gerald Coetzee, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Matheesha Pathirana, Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga.

Shakib Al Hasan, an IPL veteran with 71 games across nine seasons, has a reserve price of INR 1 crore. The list also includes Adithya Ashok, a right-arm spinner from New Zealand, with a base price of Rs 75 lakh. Shai Hope, Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph have the maximum floor price of INR 2 crore.

The spreadsheet includes overseas players from 14 countries: Afghanistan, Australia, England, Bangladesh, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe, the Netherlands, Scotland and the USA. There is an entry from Malaysia – India-born Virandeep Singh, a right-handed all-rounder, has enrolled with a base price of INR 30 lakh.

Following the retentions, the 10 IPL franchises collectively have INR 237.55 crore to spend at the auction. Kolkata Knight Riders have the maximum purse of INR 64.30 crore. Chennai Super Kings are second with a purse of INR 43.40 crore. There are 77 slots to be filled across the teams, including 31 overseas positions.
