IPL mini-auction: 16 capped Indians among 1355 players; No Maxwell
Over a thousand players have registered for the Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction, with Mayank Agarwal, KS Bharat, Rahul Chahar, Ravi Bishnoi, Akash Deep, Deepak Hooda, Venkatesh Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Prithvi Shaw and Umesh Yadav among the notable Indian aspirants. Veteran all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is a notable absentee. The auction will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16.
The auction register lists 1,355 players, comprising 1,062 Indians and 293 overseas players. The list includes 212 capped players, 1,121 uncapped players, and 22 associate players.
Among the 16 capped Indian players, only Ravi Bishnoi and Venkatesh Iyer have the maximum base price of ₹2 crore. For overseas players, 43 are in the ₹2 crore bracket, including Cameron Green, Steve Smith, Jamie Smith, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, and Wanindu Hasaranga.
Shakib Al Hasan has set a reserve price of ₹1 crore. Shai Hope, Akeal Hosein, and Alzarri Joseph also have the maximum floor price of ₹2 crore.
The 10 IPL franchises have a total of ₹237.55 crore to spend at the auction. Kolkata Knight Riders have the largest purse at ₹64.30 crore, followed by Chennai Super Kings with ₹43.40 crore. There are 77 slots to fill, including 31 overseas positions.
Franchises have until December 3 to request additional names for the register and until December 5 to confirm the final list for the auction.
