Powell, Cox power Dubai Capitals to victory

Dubai Capitals registered their first win in the ILT20 with an 83-run victory. Rovman Powell's 52-ball 96 and Jordan Cox's 52 off 36 took the Capitals to 186 for 4. Waqar Salamkheil's 4 for 29 then bowled Abu Dhabi Knight Riders out for 103.

Batting first, the Capitals lost openers Toby Albert and Sediqullah Atal early, slipping to 25 for 2. Shayan Jahangir fell soon after, bringing Cox and Powell together. They consolidated before accelerating. Powell hit boundaries off Sunil Narine, while Cox lofted Piyush Chawla for six. Their running was sharp, converting singles into doubles.

The pair added 119 runs off 76 balls. Cox was dismissed for 52 in the 16th over. Powell then launched an assault, plundering 24 runs off Andre Russell in the final over with two sixes and two fours to reach 186.

In reply, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders collapsed to 10 for 3. David Willey removed Alex Hales and Alishan Sharafu, while Mustafizur Rahman dismissed Unmukt Chand for a golden duck. Phil Salt resisted briefly, hitting a four and a six, but fell for 27. Wickets tumbled regularly, with Mohammad Nabi removing Liam Livingstone.

Andre Russell hit two sixes off Salamkheil before being caught next ball. Salamkheil then cleaned up the tail, taking three more wickets to seal a comprehensive win.
