Mashud sets deadline to quit as ground committee chairman

Khaled Mashud, the Bangladesh Cricket Board's ground committee chairman, hinted on Tuesday that he is ready to resign if his contributions are not satisfactory over the coming months. He made this announcement during a visit to the Purbachal Cricket Stadium with board officials to assess the site.

Mashud, who recently replaced BCB president Aminul Islam in the role, stated, "If I see that I cannot do the work, if within three to six months I see I am unable to deliver good work, I think I will quit and leave."

He emphasized his motivation, saying, "I didn't come here for the chair; I came for the development of cricket. If I see I can't work, there's no point in staying. To me, this chair isn't important; what is important is how well I can work and how much knowledge I can share."

Inquiry into Soil Theft at Purbachal

Mashud also addressed reports of soil theft at the Purbachal Cricket Stadium, announcing that an inquiry committee will be formed to investigate the matter.

He revealed discrepancies in the soil quantity, noting, "I came to know about 20,000 CFT (Cubic Feet) of soil was supposed to be delivered. Through measurement, about 7,500 CFT of soil is there, and almost 12,500 CFT is missing."

"We have to form a very transparent inquiry committee so that the whole scenario comes out regarding who is involved," Mashud added.
