Hooda still in suspect bowling action list ahead of IPL Auction
Deepak Hooda remains on the list of players with suspect bowling actions. The 30-year-old all-rounder, currently with Rajasthan in domestic cricket, stays in the suspect category as he was in the last IPL season. The BCCI informed IPL franchises of this status on Saturday, ahead of the December 16 auction.
Hooda, a part-time off-spinner, played seven matches for Chennai Super Kings last IPL but did not bowl. Since then, he has bowled six overs in BCCI domestic competitions: one in the Ranji Trophy and five in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
His most recent bowling was on December 8 for Rajasthan against Jharkhand. If called for suspect action again, he risks a bowling ban in the IPL. In that match, he bowled three overs, taking three wickets for 24 runs.
Hooda, with 10 ODIs and 21 T20Is for India, is in the AL1 (all-rounder) category at the auction with a base price of ₹75 lakh. The AL1 category includes seven players like Venkatesh Iyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Rachin Ravindra, and is second in the auction order.
Other players with bowling action issues:
- Abid Mushtaq (Jammu & Kashmir), 29-year-old left-arm spinner, base price ₹30 lakh, suspect action.
- KL Shrijith (Karnataka), 29-year-old off-spinner, banned from bowling in the IPL since last season.
- Rishabh Chauhan (Madhya Pradesh), also on the banned list.
