Tim David out of BBL; on track for T20 World Cup

Tim David has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing Big Bash League season after scans confirmed a Grade 2 strain in his right hamstring.

According to his BBL franchise Hobart Hurricanes, David is "tracking to be available" for the T20 World Cup, which kicks off on February 7.

The injury occurred while David was running between the wickets during Hurricanes' four-wicket win over Perth Scorchers on Friday night. The Hurricanes confirmed David would undergo scans on Saturday to assess the injury's extent.

"David's rehabilitation timeline has him tracking to be available for selection for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup," the Hurricanes said in a statement.

David also suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025, missing the final few matches, including the title-winning finale against Punjab Kings.
