Taskin welcomes BCB's move of granting NOCs to players
Bangladeshi fast bowler Taskin Ahmed said on Monday that he welcomes the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) approach of granting no-objection certificates (NOCs) for franchise-based T20 tournaments, as it provides better exposure in the global T20 circuit.
The BCB granted him an NOC to play for the Sharjah Warriors in the UAE's ILT20, an opportunity the right-arm pacer embraced. The board has also shown flexibility by granting NOCs to players like Mustafizur Rahman for the IPL and Rishad Hossain for the Big Bash, prioritizing long-term development.
Taskin believes playing abroad is crucial for individual growth and for Bangladesh cricket. "It feels very good to get the NOC," said Taskin. "The more you play, the more you learn by sharing dressing rooms with players from different cultures. Different coaching panels and environments help you improve your own cricket."
He highlighted the challenges and benefits of such leagues. "In big leagues like the ILT20, every team's batting is very strong. That challenge builds confidence. Even a five percent improvement from such experiences makes a difference for the national team. You bring back ideas on preparation, recovery, and mindset."
Taskin noted the competitive pressure abroad. "There is always pressure as a foreign player. In my team, 17 of 23 players were foreigners, so competition was high. If we keep playing in such leagues, the value of Bangladeshi players will increase everywhere."
He also commented on Mustafizur Rahman's IPL success, as the left-arm pacer was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 9.2 crore, making him the most expensive Bangladeshi player in IPL history. "Fizz is a proven performer. Even if he had gone for 18 crore instead of 9, it wouldn't have been surprising. He deserves it," Taskin said.
