Subrayen and Gleeson dismantle Super Giants in one-sided win

Prenelan Subrayen and Richard Gleeson took three wickets each to set up Joburg Super Kings' six-wicket win over Durban Super Giants at Kingsmead on Tuesday. The Super Giants were bowled out for 86, a total the visitors chased down with 46 balls to spare, thanks to Rilee Rossouw's 43 off 32 balls.

Choosing to bat on a surface offering early turn, the hosts were quickly in trouble. Subrayen dismissed openers Devon Conway and Kane Williamson cheaply. Jos Buttler hit a couple of boundaries but fell to Subrayen in the fifth over, leaving the Super Giants at 23 for 3 by the end of the Powerplay.

Evan Jones and Aiden Markram tried to rebuild with a steady partnership, but with the run rate needing a boost, Markram was caught at wide long off trying to attack Wiaan Mulder.

Any hope of a fightback ended in the 16th over when Gleeson, in his second spell, removed Jones and Simon Harmer, triggering a lower-order collapse. The Super Giants were bowled out with 17 balls still remaining in their innings.

The Super Kings' start wasn't much better. Eathan Bosch and David Wiese removed the openers, and Simon Harmer had Mulder caught at deep mid-wicket, leaving the visitors struggling at 26 for 3 in the powerplay.

However, the hosts couldn't maintain the pressure. Rossouw counter-attacked aggressively. He was dropped on 16 in the ninth over—a simple chance at long off that went for six.

He then hit Aiden Markram for a boundary and drove Kwena Maphaka for two fours. By the time Noor Ahmad dismissed him in the 12th over, the Super Kings needed just 13 runs. Donovan Ferreira sealed the win by hitting Bosch for a boundary and a six in the next over.

Brief Scores: Durban Super Giants 86 in 17.1 overs (Aiden Markram 22, Evan Jones 15; Richard Gleeson 3-2, Prenelan Subrayen 3-16) lost to Joburg Super Kings 88/4 in 12.2 overs (Rilee Rossouw 43, Shubham Ranjane 15*; David Wiese 1-15) by 6 wickets.
