Nabi and son: A dream come true in the BPL

Afghanistan legend Mohammad Nabi spent a long time in the nets with his son Hassan Eisakhil on Saturday ahead of their game for Noakhali Express against Dhaka Capitals in the Bangladesh Premier League.

After an intense training session where Nabi was seen giving his son throwdowns and offering constant feedback, the duo turned their preparation into on-field success. Eisakhil, receiving his cap from his father, made a spectacular debut, scoring 92 runs.

He shared a crucial 53-run fourth-wicket partnership with Nabi, showcasing power and maturity. Reflecting on missing a century, Eisakhil said, "I was waiting to hit a six to give a bigger, good total… I'm not that sad about my hundred."

Nabi, known as a strict trainer, detailed their preparation. "We already spent one and a half hours yesterday and prepared him for the game. I told him about the situation, about the bowlers," he said. He praised his son's ability to handle pressure on the tricky Bangladeshi pitches.

"I'm really happy to play together with my son. I was waiting for this for a long time," Nabi added. He highlighted Eisakhil's consistent performance in domestic circuits over the last two years, including first-class cricket and the Shpageeza Cricket League, expressing hope for his national team selection soon.

Eisakhil confirmed his ambition aligns with his father's. "Yeah, it's my dream and his dream was to play in the national team together, and that's why I'm working hard," he said. While others see a similarity in their batting, Eisakhil insists he isn't copying his father. Nabi believes it's natural, stating, "It's coming naturally."

While they have made history playing together in the BPL, achieving their dream of sharing the national team dressing room remains a future goal that now looks within reach.
