Sundar ruled out of NZ ODI series

Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series against New Zealand due to a side strain.

He sustained the injury while bowling in the first innings. He later batted but was visibly hampered while running. He scored 7 runs from 7 balls in a partnership with KL Rahul.

KL Rahul said after the match, "I didn't know he couldn't run. I knew he had a bit of an injury, but I wasn't aware of the extent. He was striking the ball well. There was no need to take unnecessary risks, and he rotated the strike."

Harshit Rana added, "Washington Sundar has a side strain. He was in pain while batting. Our medical team will assess and update."

Sundar is the second Indian player ruled out of the series, following Rishabh Pant, who suffered an oblique muscle tear before the first ODI. Dhruv Jurel replaced Pant, and a replacement for Sundar is awaited from the BCCI.
