Injured Faf du Plessis ruled out of remainder of SA20 season

Joburg Super Kings suffered a blow on Tuesday (January 13) after skipper Faf du Plessis was ruled out for the remainder of the SA20 2025-26 season. Du Plessis suffered a right thumb ligament tear and will require surgery.

The 41-year-old sustained the injury during JSK's match against MI Cape Town on January 10. After MI Cape Town posted 234/3, du Plessis did not bat in the chase, with JSK losing the contest.

Du Plessis has scored 135 runs in five innings this tournament. JSK have won three games and lost two, with two matches washed out. They are currently third in the table with three league games remaining. In du Plessis's absence, Donovan Ferreira is expected to lead the side for the rest of the campaign.
