ACB limits players to three foreign T20 leagues to manage workload

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced that its players will be permitted to participate in only three franchise-based T20 tournaments outside of Afghanistan per year. The decision, aimed at protecting player fitness and mental well-being, was approved during the ACB's Annual General Meeting in Kabul.

In a statement, the ACB said: "Players will now be permitted to participate in the Afghanistan Premier League (APL), plus only three other international leagues per year. This measure aims to manage workload and ensure peak performance for national duties."

This policy could have a significant financial impact on several high-profile Afghan cricketers, including Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, AM Ghazanfar, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who are in high demand globally in the T20 franchise circuit.

Additionally, the ACB stated that a clause will be added to contracts for foreign coaching staff, requiring them to visit Afghanistan when needed. This is intended to ensure domestic players can benefit from elite coaching expertise to foster local talent development.

The ACB leadership was also praised during the meeting for resuming the Afghanistan Premier League and launching major infrastructure projects.
