Ranji Trophy quarters: Mumbai recover against Karnataka; Auqib Nabi bags 7

Mumbai recovered marvellously on Day 2 against Karnataka to take a lead of 136 runs in their Ranji Trophy 2025-26 quarterfinal clash. They first bowled out Karnataka for 173 with Mohit Avasthi and Tushar Deshpande picking up four-wicket hauls while Mayank Agarwal scored a valiant 92. Barring Agarwal, only KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal reached double-digits. Karnataka suffered a stunning collapse from 119 for 2 to be bowled for 173, giving them only a 53-run lead.

In the second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Akhil Herwadkar put on a 77-run opening stand, which wiped out the lead, before both batters were dismissed in the space of five deliveries. Akash Anand (53*) and Musheer Khan (49*) stabilised the innings as they put on an unbeaten 112-run stand.

Sudip Kumar Gharami's undefeated 112 took Bengal to 199 for 5 at the end of Day 2, in pursuit of Andhra's 295 as they still trail by 96 runs with the quarter-final in the balance. Gharami has hit 15 fours so far in his innings but had very little support from his batting partners. Abhimanyu Easwaran fell for just one while the second-highest scorer, Sumanta Gupta, is currently batting with Gharami on 22.

Earlier, Mukesh Kumar (5 for 66) and Akash Deep (4 for 79) wrapped up Andhra's innings early on in the day quite quickly. From 264 for 6 overnight, Andhra were bowled out for 295 after Ricky Bhui scored 83 on the opening day.

Uttarakhand continued to dominate their quarter-final against Jharkhand as they ended Day 2 on 282 for 5 in Jamshedpur. Sixties from Kunal Chandela (68) and Avneesh Sudha (64), and Jagadeesha Suchith (60*) took them to a commanding position, and they currently lead Jharkhand's first innings score of 235 by 47 runs.

Jammu and Kashmir vs Madhya Pradesh

Auqib Nabi Dar's sensational spell of 7 for 40 put Jammu & Kashmir in control as they bowled Madhya Pradesh out for 152 in response to J&K's 194. From 28 for 0 on Day 1, MP collapsed to 152 with Rajat Patidar and Venkatesh Iyer scoring 10 and 22 respectively, as the hosts let a valuable opportunity to take a first innings lead slip in Indore.

In J&K's second innings, Abdul Samad hit 32 to take them to a 126-run lead and are currently 84 for 5.
