Mohammad Nabi fined for disobeying umpire's decision
Mohammad Nabi, the Afghanistan all-rounder, has been fined 15 percent of his match fees for disobeying an umpire's decision during his team's match against South Africa on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in the 14th over of Afghanistan's innings when Nabi engaged in a prolonged argument with the umpires over bowler Lungi Ngidi's wrist band.
By objecting to the decision, he breached Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Nabi admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by David Gilbert of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, avoiding a formal hearing. He also received one demerit point, as it was his first offence in a 24-month period.
The closely contested match ended in a tie, requiring two Super Overs for South Africa to secure two points.
