Ranji Trophy Final to be Held in Hubballi
The Ranji Trophy final will be played in Hubballi, Karnataka. While the BCCI has yet to formally announce the venue, sources indicate the northern Karnataka city has been chosen for the marquee domestic fixture.
The final, scheduled from February 24, will be contested between Karnataka and Jammu & Kashmir.
The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) opted for Hubballi over the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, which is currently undergoing extensive infrastructure and safety upgrades. The KSCA stated these ongoing works would have compromised the match-viewing experience and spectator convenience required for a final.
The decision aligns with the new KSCA Managing Committee's vision, under President Venkatesh Prasad, to host major matches in prominent regional centers across Karnataka to promote the sport statewide.
Finalists Confirmed
Karnataka secured their place by drawing with Uttarakhand and progressing on a first-innings lead. Jammu & Kashmir booked their maiden Ranji Trophy final berth a day earlier, defeating Bengal by six wickets in Kalyani.
Tournament Context
- This is the 91st Ranji Trophy final.
- Karnataka are making their 15th final appearance, having won the title eight times. Their last final was in 2015, where they defeated Tamil Nadu.
- Karnataka have won all four of their previous head-to-head matches against Jammu & Kashmir, with the last meeting in Chennai in 2022.
The Venue
The KSCA Hubballi Cricket Ground hosted a Karnataka league fixture against Chandigarh earlier this season, which Karnataka won by 185 runs.
