Voll ton seals dominant win as Australia jump to 6-4 lead

Georgia Voll's second ODI century and a blistering 80 from Phoebe Litchfield powered Australia to a commanding victory over India at Bellerive Oval, clinching the ODI leg 2-0 and extending their lead to 6-4 in the multi-format series.

Australia chased down India's total of 251 for 9 with more than 13 overs to spare, inflicting a big defeat on the defending World Cup champions. For India, it was a familiar tale of a promising start squandered by reckless batting in the middle overs.

Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss for the fifth consecutive time, but India couldn't capitalise. Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana gave India a strong foundation with a 78-run opening stand. But Mandhana's dismissal, clean bowled by Ashleigh Gardner, triggered a collapse.

India lost 5 for 52 between the 17th and 31st overs. Rawal, who made 52 from 81 balls, was then run out after a miscommunication with Harmanpreet. The Indian captain marshalled the lower order effectively, her 54 from 70 balls helping India to 251, but it was insufficient.

Phoebe Litchfield extinguished any Indian hopes almost immediately. The opener was in sensational touch, smashing 41 of Australia's first 60 runs in the Powerplay. She brought up her fifty off just 42 balls and was dismissed for 80.

By then, the game was as good as done. Georgia Voll, under pressure having replaced the injured Ellyse Perry, announced herself emphatically. Dropped on 19 and 53, she made India pay, raising a well-deserved century off 80 balls.

Brief scores: India 251/9 in 50 overs (Pratika Rawal 52, Harmanpreet Kaur 54; Ashleigh Gardner 2-39, Alana King 2-41) lost to Australia 252/5 in 36.1 overs (Georgia Voll 101, Phoebe Litchfield 80; Kashvee Gautam 2-47) by 5 wickets.
