Injured Hasan Mahmud, Tanzim Hasan to miss Pakistan ODIs
Bangladesh will be without injured pacers Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan Sakib for the forthcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan. Mahmud is suffering from a tennis elbow in his right hand, while Tanzim has been ruled out with a back injury.
The 15-member squad, led by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, sees the recall of Afif Hossain, with Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan retaining his place in the middle order. Notable omissions from the squad that played the last ODI series against West Indies in October 2025 include Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan, Jaker Ali, and Shamim Hossain.
Chairman of selectors Gazi Ashraf Hossain explained the changes: "We have provided opportunities to several players in the middle order, but unfortunately some have not done enough to secure their places. With that in mind, Afif Hossain has been recalled. He brings valuable experience and appears to be in fine touch. Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan has been retained, and this is a good opportunity for him to fulfil the potential he has shown."
Addressing concerns around Litton Das's recent form, he added: "There may be questions about Litton Das's recent ODI form, but he has been working closely with the coaches on his game. We believe he can soon produce his best in this format and are considering him as an option to strengthen the middle order."
The three matches are scheduled for Dhaka on March 11, 13, and 15.
