ICC postpones March 25-27 Doha meeting; may reschedule it in April
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has postponed its meeting scheduled for March 25-27 in Doha, Qatar, due to the ongoing conflict in the region. The meeting is expected to be rescheduled for April, though a new date has not been announced.
A formal communication was sent to members on Saturday, the day before the T20 World Cup final in Ahmedabad. The ICC is reportedly looking for an alternative venue within the continent.
The meeting was intended to bring together ICC Board Directors, Chief Executives, Committee Members, and senior leadership to deliberate on key matters concerning the global game.
The ICC had previously stated that Doha was chosen due to its growing engagement with cricket in Qatar and the country's wider sporting ecosystem, highlighting collaboration with the Qatar Cricket Association and Olympic Committee.
Meanwhile, several ICC officials are expected in Ahmedabad for the T20 World Cup final. New Zealand Cricket chairman Roger Twose will attend, along with Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani and Cricket South Africa chairman Dr Mohammed Moosajee, among other board representatives.
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Aminul Islam is not expected to attend, as he is believed to be in Melbourne. Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Moshsin Naqvi will also not be present.
