Committee formed to investigate 2025 BCB elections
The National Sports Council has formed a five-member independent probe committee to investigate allegations of widespread irregularities in the Bangladesh Cricket Board's 2025 election.
The NSC announced the decision days after Tamim Iqbal led a request for an investigation, claiming that 50 out of 76 clubs in the capital supported the call for a probe.
Divisional councillors and former cricket organizers also raised concerns over alleged irregularities in councillor nominations, the formation of ad-hoc committees, and the alleged misuse of authority by officials involved in the election process, submitting a letter to the NSC.
The committee has been asked to submit its report to the State Minister for Youth and Sports within 15 working days.

Committee's Mandate:
- Collect documents and evidence related to the complaints.
- Take statements from relevant individuals and organizations involved in the election process.
- Examine whether the councillor nomination process adhered to the BCB constitution and applicable laws.
- Seek explanations from concerned clubs, organizations, and individuals.
- Co-opt experts if necessary for the investigation.
- Make recommendations to ensure greater transparency in future BCB elections.
