KSCA receives permission to host IPL games in Chinnaswamy Stadium
The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has received official permission from the Government of Karnataka to host Indian Premier League (IPL) matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The venue will host the season opener between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28.
KSCA secretary Santosh Menon confirmed the development, stating an Expert Committee was satisfied with infrastructural changes following an inspection on March 13. The committee's report was presented to Karnataka's Home Minister, Dr. G. Parameshwar, who formally approved the matches.
The clearance follows discussions regarding security and crowd management, particularly after a stampede during an RCB trophy celebration in June last year.
KSCA stated its team worked closely with state authorities to ensure full compliance with the Expert Committee's recommendations.
With approval secured, the Chinnaswamy Stadium is set to host its scheduled fixtures. This includes five RCB home matches, one playoff game, and the final. RCB will play its two other home games in Raipur.
