CSK plan mega reunion at Chepauk on March 22
The Chennai Super Kings will host a reunion in Chennai on March 22, inviting several former players, including those now with other IPL teams. Confirmed attendees include Muttiah Muralitharan (Sunrisers Hyderabad), Matthew Hayden (Gujarat Titans), and Dwayne Bravo (Kolkata Knight Riders).
Speculation about a major announcement followed initial news of the event, but franchise officials clarified it is a formal pre-IPL function to launch the season.
"It is just a pre-launch for the season and an exercise in fan engagement. There is nothing more to read into it," said Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan. He confirmed the attendance of many former players, largely Indian, who have represented the franchise over its 16 seasons.
Approximately 19-20 former players are expected, alongside the current squad and support staff. The event will be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium from 4 pm to 9 pm and will include a performance by Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman.
The franchise has contacted other teams regarding the availability of their coaching staff. Muralitharan, currently in India for the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp, has confirmed his attendance.
Among other former players, Suresh Raina has confirmed his presence. R Ashwin, who began his career with CSK, is unlikely to attend as he will be out of Chennai.
By the day of the event, Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube—members of India's T20 World Cup-winning squad—will have joined the CSK camp, which began in Chennai on March 1.
CSK begin their IPL 2026 campaign with an away match against the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on March 30. Their first home match is against Punjab Kings on April 3.
