BCB set to name Habibul Bashar-led revamped selection panel
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is likely to introduce a four-member national selection panel as part of a reorganization.
Previously, the BCB appointed selection panel members based on internal observations. Now, the board has decided to interview interested candidates before naming the new panel.
Several candidates impressed the interview panel, which included BCB vice-president Faruque Ahmed, cricket operations chairman Nazmul Abedin, and former national captain and current board director Khaled Mashud.
While the previous selection panel had three members, the new panel could include a head, making it a four-member team.
"There is no hard and fast rule that the selection panel will have to be a three-member committee," BCB cricket operations chairman Nazmul Abedin said. "We will form the selection panel as per our requirements."
A BCB director, who was part of the interview panel, confirmed they will propose a four-member panel.
It is also learned that former national selector Habibul Bashar will head the selection panel. Former national batter Naeem Islam and Nadif Chowdhury will join him. Hasibul Hossain, who remained in the selection panel after Gazi Ashraf Hossain recently quit as chief selector, is the other member.
