Kashvee Gautam, Anushka Sharma included in India squad for South Africa T20Is

Kashvee Gautam and Anushka Sharma have received their maiden T20I call-ups. The Women's selection committee announced a 15-member squad for the five-match T20I series against South Africa in April.

Uma Chetry is the other inclusion. Vaishnavi Sharma, Sneh Rana, G Kamalini and Amanjot Kaur miss out from the squad that faced Australia recently.

Player Backgrounds:

  • Kashvee Gautam: The 22-year-old seamer has been part of the Gujarat Giants in the Women's Premier League (WPL), taking 19 wickets in 18 matches. She made her India debut in an ODI series against Sri Lanka in April 2025 and earned her Test cap against Australia earlier this month.
  • Anushka Sharma: The 22-year-old all-rounder also played for the Gujarat Giants in the 2026 WPL season, scoring 177 runs in seven matches. She was part of the India A squad that won the Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars T20 tournament.
  • Uma Chetry: The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has played seven T20Is for India and made her ODI debut against Bangladesh in the 2025 World Cup. She was part of UP Warriorz in the 2024 and 2025 WPL seasons.

Series Context & Schedule:
The five-match series serves as a buildup for the Women's T20 World Cup in England in June-July.

  • 1st & 2nd T20I: Durban (April 17, 19)
  • 3rd & 4th T20I: Johannesburg (April 22, 25)
  • 5th T20I: Benoni (April 27)
