Ousted from media role, Amzad resigns from BCB in protest

Amzad Hossain, a Bangladesh Cricket Board director, resigned from the board on Monday (March 23) in protest after being removed from his position as chairman of the BCB media committee.

His resignation followed the BCB's announcement on March 22 that director Md Mokhsedul Kamal had been appointed as the new chairman of the media & communications committee.

"I am not sure why I was withdrawn from my post and what my shortcomings are, as they only said they have decided to replace me. Later, I decided to resign from the board," Amzad told Cricbuzz. "You can say my resignation is my protest."

While avoiding direct criticism of the controversial BCB election, Amzad noted concerns regarding participation.

"In previous times, there were representatives from many Premier League clubs. This time there are fewer. Many candidates withdrew from the election. That perhaps did not happen before," he said during an impromptu press conference.

"In terms of participation, it might have been more transparent. That could have been better. Perhaps it could have been more transparent," he added, stating such questions are not unusual in any election.

Amzad mentioned he was unaware of recent developments, including the BCB's warning to the National Sports Council over an investigation committee probing election irregularities, as he had been out of the country for about 10 days.

Amzad is the second director of the current board to resign, following Ishtiaque Sadeque, who cited personal reasons.
