Rahul Chahar returns to Surrey for eight-game stint
India spinner Rahul Chahar will return to Surrey for an eight-game stint in the County Championship this summer. On his Surrey debut last September, his only appearance for the team, Chahar took 10 wickets. Eight of those came in the second innings – 8/51, the best first-class bowling figures by a debutant for Surrey, breaking a 166-year record held by William Mudie (7/61).
Chahar will feature in the final eight fixtures of the upcoming season, starting with the match against Hampshire at The Oval on June 7.
"I'm so excited to be coming back to Surrey this season," Chahar said. "I really enjoyed my short spell in 2025 and jumped at the opportunity to come back when I spoke to Alec Stewart. Surrey is a successful club and I want to help the team achieve its goals in 2026."
Surrey's director of men's cricket, Alec Stewart, said: "Rahul came in last year and did an excellent job at Hampshire, showing his qualities. We're looking forward to welcoming him back to the group and seeing how he can contribute to winning games for Surrey."
Until the end of May, Chahar will be occupied with the IPL, where he plays for Chennai Super Kings.
