MS Dhoni likely to miss first two weeks of IPL 2026
MS Dhoni is likely to miss the first two weeks of IPL 2026 as he recovers from a calf strain.
A statement from Chennai Super Kings confirmed Dhoni is undergoing rehabilitation for the injury, likely leaving the team without their star player for the early part of the tournament.
Chennai Super Kings' first game is against Rajasthan Royals on March 30 in Guwahati.
Dhoni, who turns 45 this year, is one of four wicketkeepers in the CSK squad, alongside Sanju Samson (traded from Rajasthan Royals), Kartik Sharma, and Urvil Patel. With 278 matches, Dhoni is the most capped player in IPL history.
In recent years, Dhoni has been managing a knee injury while playing exclusively in the IPL, remaining a constant presence in the CSK lineup and leading them to their fifth title in 2023.
During the first two weeks of his expected recovery, CSK will face Punjab Kings (home), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (away), and Delhi Capitals (home), in addition to their season opener against Rajasthan Royals.
