Farhan, Philippe star as Sultans win again
Multan Sultans consolidated their top spot in PSL 2026 with their fourth win, chasing down 183 with ease against Rawalpindi. Despite playing twice in less than 24 hours, Sultans were ruthless, with Sahibzada Farhan and Josh Philippe starring in the chase.
Sultans opted to bowl after winning the toss. Rawalpindi started positively with early boundaries, but lost Yasir Khan early. Kamran Ghulam accelerated in the Powerplay, but Mohammad Rizwan fell lbw, shifting pressure to the middle order. Faisal Akram struck twice in the middle overs, leaving Rawalpindi reeling at 79/4.
Daryl Mitchell hit back-to-back boundaries against spin, but Akram dismissed him in the same over. Dion Forrester smashed a hat-trick of sixes to boost the run rate, but fell to a Peter Siddle short ball. At 128/7 with five overs left, Sam Billings rescued Rawalpindi, hitting three boundaries off Mohammad Wasim Jr. and targeting Siddle in the penultimate over to finish unbeaten on 56, pushing the total past 180.
In response, Rawalpindi needed early wickets but only managed Steven Smith early. Philippe started aggressively, and Farhan ended the Powerplay with two sixes off Mohammad Amir, as Sultans raced to 58.
Amir Khan was attacked by Philippe, but Rishad Hossain’s over turned the game. After a tidy start, Farhan smashed three consecutive sixes off Rishad to reach his fifty. Philippe added another six in the same over, costing 26 runs. Philippe cleared the ropes again next over. Both half-centurions eventually fell, but Shan Masood and Ashton Turner finished the chase quickly.
Brief scores: Rawalpindi 182/8 in 20 overs (Sam Billings 56, Kamran Ghulam 35; Faisal Akram 4/31) lost to Multan Sultans 186/3 in 16.2 overs (Sahibzada Farhan 68, Josh Philippe 56; Mohammad Amir 2/32) by 7 wickets.
