Rohit Sharma set for scans on suspected hamstring injury

Rohit Sharma will undergo scans to determine the severity of a hamstring injury. His availability for Mumbai Indians' next match against Punjab Kings on Thursday (April 16) depends on the results.

Rohit retired hurt during Mumbai Indians' match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday night, walking off in the sixth over after scoring 19 off 13 balls. He was attended to by the physio before the over, received treatment, but walked off after facing just one more ball.

The exact status will only be clear after the scan results. Teammate Sherfane Rutherford said post-match, "I'm not entirely sure yet – perhaps it's a bit of a hamstring issue – but I can't say for certain."

Rohit has scored 137 runs in four matches this season. Mumbai Indians have lost three of their four games.

Virat is fine, says Krunal

Virat Kohli did not take the field during MI's chase due to an ankle concern, but teammate Krunal Pandya allayed serious fears.

"I mean, I have not spoken to the physio yet, but I think he'll be fine," Pandya said after RCB's 18-run win. Kohli scored a 38-ball 50 earlier in the day.

Pandya added, "He has been striking at around 200 if you look at the last two or three games… If you look at his stats, he has been batting at a very good strike rate."
