Accelerated Process Introduced in IPL Auction

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reduced the auction register from 1574 to 574 players. The accelerated process will start after the 116th player is called for bidding. This will include Ricky Bhui as the first player in the accelerated process.

Accelerated Process Details

  • The accelerated process will cover all players from 117 to 574.
  • Franchises will be asked to nominate a set number of players from this group by 10 PM on the evening of November 24.
  • The accelerated process will continue after presenting the nominated players, with franchises submitting the names of unsold players from the full list of 574.

Auction Schedule

  • The auction will commence with marquee sets.
  • A full round of capped players by specialization – batter, all-rounders, wicketkeeper/batter, fast bowlers, and spin bowlers.
  • A full specialism round of uncapped players.
  • Two sets of marquee players have been announced: Jos Buttler, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh, and Mitchell Starc; and Yuzvendra Chahal, Liam Livingstone, David Miller, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj.

Notable Absences and Inclusions

  • Jofra Archer will not be available for the 2025 season due to England and Wales Cricket Board's request for him to stay fit for the summer Test.
  • Unmukt Chand, Lalit Yadav, and Odean Smith of the West Indies have been added to the auction register.

Border-Gavaskar Trophy Scheduling

  • The auction timings have been set to avoid overlapping with the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
  • The auction will begin at 3 PM IST, following the conclusion of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
