Hamilton picks five as Heat comfortably overcome Stars

Brisbane Heat Women continued their impressive run in the WBBL 2024, thanks to a thrilling performance by Lucy Hamilton, who picked up five wickets, and a brisk 45 from Jemimah Rodrigues.

In a standout display with the ball, Hamilton dismissed the Melbourne Stars' top and middle order, restricting them to just 138. The 21 from Annabel Sutherland and 9 from Marizanne Kapp proved the second-highest scores from a Stars' batter on the day.

The Heat's top scorers were Rodrigues with 45 off 31 balls, Charli Knott with 35* off 36 deliveries, and Georgia Redmayne's 16* off 16 deliveries.

Brief scores:

  • Melbourne Stars 138/10 in 20 overs (Kim Garth 29; Lucy Hamilton 5-8) v Brisbane Heat 139/4 in 17.3 overs (Jemimah Rodrigues 45, Charli Knott 35*)
  • Sydney Thunder Women vs Sydney Sixers Women Match abandoned due to rain, with points split evenly.

Sydney Thunder Women vs Sydney Sixers Women

Rain played spoilsport in the match between Sydney Thunder Women and Sydney Sixers Women, forcing the teams to share points after the Sixers' chase of Thunder's 121 all-out was interrupted.

An all-round bowling effort led by Amelia Kerr's 3 for 16 helped Sixers knock over Thunder for 121 in 19.5 overs. Georgia Voll and Phoebe Litchfield contributed 29 and 28 respectively for Thunder.
