Brathwaite turns to bowlers to help West Indies end 2024 on a high
West Indies Test captain Kraigg Brathwaite has pinned his hopes on his team signing off from 2024 on a high note as they gear up for the second game of the two-match Test series in Jamaica, starting on November 30. After a 201-run victory in the series opener in Antigua, the hosts will set their eyes on a series sweep.
"It's very important (to end the year on a high note) and we can't afford to take any Test match for granted or any Test series," Braithwaite said. "The first Test is gone that is history and so we have got to start as a bowling unit and as a batting unit but we look forward to it."
Brathwaite expects his pacers to turn up once again after they set up the first Test victory. The four-man pace attack, along with medium pacer Justin Greaves, put Bangladesh in trouble in Antigua, sharing all the wickets between them.
"Bowlers enjoy bowling here and I believe there is a bit of seam around for the majority of the game which is good," said Braithwaite. "It's obviously a new ground and there are lot of moistures so we got to start fresh."
"I have full confidence in all the fast bowlers we have and I believe all these guys have different attributes. I am really excited for what the future holds for this bowling group," he added.
