Baroda smash 349/5 – the highest-ever T20 total

Baroda's top-order came out swinging against Sikkim at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore, to amass a jaw-dropping 349 for 5 – the highest ever T20 total, surpassing Zimbabwe's 344 for 4 against Gambia.

They shattered a couple of more records – of hitting the most sixes in a T20 innings with 37. This record too previously belonged to Zimbabwe from the same game against Gambia where they hit 27 sixes. Baroda also took most runs off fours and sixes in a T20 innings, with 294 runs. This was also the first-ever 300-plus total in a SMAT game.

Bhanu Pania hit 15 of those 37 sixes, finishing unbeaten on 134 off 51 deliveries. Shashwat Rawat (43 off 17) and Abhimanyu Singh Rajput (53 off 17) opened the innings, followed by the middle-order pair of Shivalik Sharma (55 off 17) and Vishnu Solanki (50 off 16).

Sikkim was hammered, limping to 19 for 3 in the PowerPlay. That soon became 36 for 4 in the 10th over. Krunal Pandya bowled two maidens and finished with figures of 1 for 8 in 4 overs. Ninad Ashvinkumar Rathva and Mahesh Pithya picked two wickets each as Sikkim finished on 86 for 7 in 20 overs – losing by a whopping 263-run margin.
