'We are concerned' – BCB chief selector on Litton's form

Bangladesh chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain has expressed concern over the form of Litton Kumar Das in white-ball cricket. Litton, who has scored 2, 4 and 0 in the recent ODIs and 0 in the opening T20I against West Indies, has been struggling to meet expectations.

Ashraf mentioned that Litton's consistency needs improvement and if required, a break can be arranged for him. Litton is currently the T20 captain, and Ashraf believes it's not the right time to delve into his issues during the ongoing series. However, he assured that if Litton's batting needs adjustments, the coaches will help.

Ashraf also mentioned that he was not involved in the decision of selecting Litton as the captain in the absence of regular skipper Najmul Hossain. He clarified that the selection of the national team is under their jurisdiction, but the decision of captaincy is the board's prerogative.

Regarding the futures of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan in the Champions Trophy, Ashraf seemed unsure. Shakib is facing issues related to his bowling action and needs clearance to bowl in international cricket. Tamim, on the other hand, has resumed playing in the NCL T20 and is preparing for the upcoming BPL.

Ashraf mentioned that the board and selectors will sit together to find a solution for Tamim's fitness and availability for the Champions Trophy. He added that the board is open to discussions and providing help to Tamim for his preparation.
