Sydney Sixers continue dominance with 8-wicket win

A four-wicket haul from Ben Dwarshuis and a fifty from Josh Philippe guided Sydney Sixers to their fourth consecutive win in the 2024-25 Big Bash League. They defeated Brisbane Heat by eight wickets.

Sixers opted to bowl first, and Dwarshuis struck early, dismissing Tom Banton in the first over. This wicket slowed down the run rate as Heat captain Colin Munro had a poor outing. Akeal Hosein and Todd Murphy picked up two wickets each, restricting Heat to 138/9.

Chasing 139, Sydney Sixers started aggressively. James Vince was dismissed after hitting a few boundaries, but Josh Philippe received a lifeline due to a misjudgment in the field. Kurtis Patterson and Philippe then accelerated the scoring rate with a series of boundaries.

Philippe targeted Mitchell Swepson, scoring a six and a four, while Moises Henriques played a supporting role. The pair remained unbeaten, securing a comfortable 8-wicket victory with almost four overs to spare.

Scorecard:

Brisbane Heat: 138/9 (20 overs)
Nathan McSweeney 34, Ben Dwarshuis 4/32, Hayden Kerr 2/19

Sydney Sixers: 142/2 (16.1 overs)
Josh Philippe 66*, Kurtis Patterson 32
