Afghanistan Fight Back Against Zimbabwe

Rahmat Shah's third Test century helped Afghanistan overcome a significant deficit and finish the rain-curtailed day 205 runs ahead.

Key Stats

  • Rahmat Shah: 139 (century)
  • Afghanistan: 157 & 291/7 (lead by 205 runs)
  • Zimbabwe: 243

Day's Play

Afghanistan's innings started slowly, with Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava causing early damage. However, Rahmat Shah and Shahidullah Kamal added 67 runs for the sixth wicket, with Rahmat bringing up his sixth Test fifty.

Rahmat and Ismat Alam then added 132 runs, leaving Zimbabwe out of ideas. Alam scored his fifty and Rahmat went on to score his Test hundred. However, Rahmat fell lbw to Muzarabani, and Zimbabwe couldn't capitalize on the tail due to rain.
