BCB vows strict action amid fixing allegations in BPL

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president, Faruque Ahmed, stated that the board will take strict action against any cricketer found guilty of wrongdoing in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Suspicious Matches and Players

Eight matches in the tournament are under suspicion of spot-fixing and match-fixing, with 10 players under the BCB's Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) scanner. The suspected matches include:

  • Fortune Barishal vs Rajshahi (January 6)
  • Rangpur Riders vs Dhaka (January 7)
  • Dhaka vs Sylhet (January 10)
  • Rajshahi vs Dhaka (January 12)
  • Chittagong vs Sylhet (January 13)
  • Barishal vs Khulna Tigers (January 22)
  • Chittagong vs Sylhet (January 13)

Franchise Integrity

Among the franchises, Durbar Rajshahi and Dhaka Capitals have the most integrity flags, with each having 12. Sylhet Strikers and Chittagong Kings have six and two respectively.

Investigation and Punishment

Faruque emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that any punishment will be severe. He stated that the decision will be taken once and for all, and it will be exemplary. The BCB president also mentioned that the whole list and the events that happen during the tournament are noted and the investigation is done later.
