  • Bevan inducted into Australian Cricket Hall of Fame

Michael Bevan has been inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame, the third inductee this year following Michael Clarke and Christina Matthews. Bevan is also the first player to be inducted since the change in the governing criteria earlier this year.

Bevan, a fearsome finisher in his day, was one of Australia's greatest white-ball players. He scored 6,912 runs across 232 ODIs at an average of 53.58 for Australia. His average was also the highest by any batter in ODIs at the time of his retirement in January 2007. He was also part of the winning teams of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 1999 and 2003.

The 54-year-old is best remembered for his 78 at the SCG against the West Indies in 1996, rescuing Australia from 38 for 6 to take them home with a four off the final ball to chase down 173 with a wicket to spare.

Bevan is the 66th inductee into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.
