SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) clinch Northern Superchargers team in The Hundred

  • SRH won a three-way competition for the Yorkshire county-run side, with a bid of GBP 100 million.
  • This is the sixth Hundred franchise sold by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the third IPL franchise to join the 100-ball competition.
  • SRH, owned by the Sun Group, are an experienced franchise cricket team, with a Hyderabad-based side in the IPL and a team in SA20 – SunRisers Eastern Cape.
  • Known for non-interference in cricketing affairs, SRH is led by Pat Cummins in the IPL and has been the runner-up in the IPL for the last season.
  • In SA20, they are two-time defending champions.
  • SRH will now enter into negotiations with Yorkshire county after acquiring 49% at a valuation of 100 million GBP.

Warwickshire to start talks with Knighthead Capital for Birmingham Phoenix

  • Warwickshire County Cricket Club has chosen Knighthead Capital Management LLC as the preferred private investor for a minority stake in the Birmingham Phoenix franchise.
  • Knighthead, owners of Birmingham City football team, will acquire a 49% minority ownership stake in Birmingham Phoenix for an overall valuation of GBP 82 million.
  • Knighthead plans to develop a sports quarter and strengthen its investment in the city.
  • Warwickshire CCC Chief Executive Stuart Cain sees strong synergy between the Club and Knighthead, sharing a passion for high performance sport and the communities they serve.
