England make batting strides to breach 300

England posted a competitive total of 304 against India in the second ODI in Cuttack.

Joe Root (69) and Ben Duckett (65) scored fifties, while Liam Livingstone (41) provided a late surge.

Ravindra Jadeja (3-35) was India's standout bowler, restricting England's scoring rate after a rapid start.

Duckett and Phil Salt (who took his time initially) put on 81 runs for the opening wicket. Varun Chakaravarthy, on ODI debut, broke the stand by dismissing Salt. Jadeja then removed Duckett, a crucial wicket given India's spin attack.

Root and Harry Brook (31) added 66 for the third wicket before Brook fell to Harshit Rana. Jos Buttler (who joined Root) was then dismissed by Hardik Pandya.

Livingstone, promoted to number six due to Jacob Bethell's injury, provided a late boost along with Adil Rashid, who smashed Mohammed Shami for three fours.
