SA20 Final: Mumbai Indians Cape Town Triumph Over Sunrisers Eastern Cape

Mumbai Indians Cape Town defeated Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20 final at the Wanderers, ending the latter's dominance. The match was a closely contested one, with both teams struggling to make a breakthrough in the early stages.

Rassie van der Dussen and Ryan Rickelton provided a solid start for SEC, but their partnership was eventually broken by Marco Jansen and Craig Overton. The latter bowled a crucial slower ball that Rickelton drove firmly but could only bloop into mid-off's hands, ending the SEC's first-wicket nightmare at 51 off 31.

Reeza Hendricks was removed by Richard Gleeson in the sixth over, and Van der Dussen was stumped by Liam Dawson in the next over. The SEC's batting was struggling, but Connor Esterhuizen and George Linde provided a late surge, hitting 26 off 17 and 50 off 30 respectively.

However, the SEC's batting was ultimately not enough to overcome the strong bowling from Cape Town. Trent Boult took 2/9 and Kagiso Rabada snuffed out Jansen and Dawson in three deliveries, reducing SEC to 92/6. The latter eventually succumbed to 105 in 18.4 overs, losing the match by 76 runs.

The final scorecard read: 105/8 (20 overs) vs 181/8 (20 overs). The victory marked a significant milestone for Mumbai Indians Cape Town, who ended the two-time champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape's dominance in the SA20 tournament.
