Jos Buttler Defends England's Training Amid Series Defeat

Jos Buttler, England's captain, has refuted Ravi Shastri's claims about the team's training during their recent tour. Shastri, the former India captain, criticized England for having only one net session during the entire tour, which included five T20Is and three ODIs.

Buttler defended the team's preparation, stating, "I'm not sure that's quite true. We've had a reasonably long tour with some long travel days. We've certainly done plenty of training throughout the tour. We try to create a good environment, but it's not a lazy one. The guys are desperate to perform and improve."

Despite the 3-0 series defeat, Buttler remains optimistic ahead of the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. He acknowledged that the team hasn't yet reached its full potential and sees this as an opportunity to build confidence and effectiveness.

The England captain also addressed the team's struggles against spin, conceding 42 out of 78 wickets to spin bowlers across the series. However, Buttler emphasized the need for improvement and highlighted the importance of strong performances against spin.

One bright spot for England was the impressive performance of Adil Rashid, who emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the ODI series. Rashid's ability to consistently perform against top Indian batsmen, including Virat Kohli, has been a key factor in his success.

England will kick off their Champions Trophy campaign in Lahore against Australia, followed by matches against Afghanistan and South Africa.

Buttler concluded, "We're not anywhere near our potential yet. There's a lot to look forward to, and we believe we can be a dangerous team in the Champions Trophy."
