Hampshire sign SA teenage sensation Dre Pretorius for T20 Blast

South African teenage sensation Lhuan-dre Pretorius has signed a deal with Hampshire to play the 2025 T20 Blast.

The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter, who turns 19 next month, hit the headlines when he smashed 97 on his SA20 debut for Paarl Royals while batting alongside England great Joe Root.

Following his sensational debut, Dre Pretorius went on to finish the tournament as its leading rungetter by scoring 397 runs in total at a strike rate of 166.80.

"It's a real honour to play for Hampshire Hawks in this year's Vitality Blast as my first experience of playing cricket in England," Pretorius said. "The team is full of exciting names whom I look forward to playing alongside and sharing a dressing room with as we look to lift the trophy."
